Stargate UAE: the largest AI campus outside the United States
Abu Dhabi is building a ~$30 billion AI cluster with G42, OpenAI, NVIDIA and Oracle. The first 200MW phase is due in Q3 2026.
Construction is under way in Abu Dhabi on Stargate UAE — described by its partners as the largest artificial-intelligence campus outside the United States. The project brings together the UAE's G42 with OpenAI, NVIDIA, Oracle and Cisco, and is planned to reach up to 5 gigawatts of capacity across a 10-square-mile site.
The numbers
- First phase: 200MW of a planned 1GW cluster, targeted for completion in the third quarter of 2026.
- Hardware: powered by NVIDIA Grace Blackwell GB300 systems — among the most advanced AI chips available.
- Ownership: G42 is the majority local partner; OpenAI and Oracle are anchor participants.
Why it matters
The UAE has positioned Stargate as a regional compute hub serving the Middle East, Africa and South Asia. For the wider ecosystem, it means frontier-scale AI capacity becomes available from inside the region — closer to local data, language and latency than US or European facilities.
